Negativity still lives here, come back tomorrow
Since I have been telling friends and taking actions towards my million dollar plan, the vision is getting clearer and clearer. Of course there are some people that criticize the idea and tell me that it is not possible but what do they know? Are they millionaires? Have they tried it and failed? And even if they have, what makes them think I will listen to their story of failure so that I can build up negative thoughts about my plan? I don’t entertain negative thoughts, I change them or get rid of them if they cannot be changed.
How do you deal with negative thoughts? You find a happy place. You focus on the things that make you happy. You think about your plan and the joy it brings you when you think, plan, and talk about what you want to accomplish. We all have goals and aspirations in life and if we listen to the negativity of others, we may never reach our goals. The best thing you can do for yourself when on the journey to meet your goals is to visualize your success and let that empower you.
Know your purpose
We live in an inter-dependent society. We need others and others need us. But sometimes, the “others” can be a force of darkness in our success; however, if we see what we want in life and go after it, by that very act, we are more likely to succeed.
So, turn your thoughts into visions, see yourself already in possession of the goals you are going after.
Love the process of attaining your goals and not just the end result; if you love the process, when you get the results you wanted, you will realize that you are happy even without the very goals you were after. If you find yourself in this position at the end of your journey, then you have truly lived and the experience of living consciously and aware of your purpose is the very reason of your existence. If you understand this, no one can hinder you from meeting your goals. No one will take your joy away. You yourself will know that it is not just the goal you are after, it is the experience of achieving that goal that you are also after. You will as a result, live a more fulfilling life. So go out there and do whatever you have always wanted to do. Live.

Tate,
First I want to commend you on your million dollar plan. I have full confidence that you will attain it.
Secondly, I'd like to challenge you to consider that you are, already, a "millionaire" as your monthy salary is likely in excess of $2.0 million won. Why measure success on a flailing American standard and the weakening dollar? Being a "millionaire," as much as it is about zeros in a bank account, is about power and freedom – to live a lifestyle you love, to travel, to build for the future…To that end, you are already living a very real dream. Many people will only daydream about living and thriving abroad. You are doing it! Finally, the line that really moved me was "Love the process of attaining your goals and not just the end result…" Whether it's a work goal, savings goal, fitness goal, etc. I tend to focus only on the results. I should, instead, realize that every step forward, albeit small, is a championship moment that should be celebrated. This realization will be crucial to me as I make the 6,000 mile voyage to S. Korea next month. My question is, once attained, What will you do with your millionaire status?
And if you simply can't break away from the idea of 1 million succulent, juicy, American dollars in your account, that's okay too! Its doable! Check out how this homeless woman realized her dream in 18 months. http://bit.ly/hermill
Ah Maisha, I love that you are asking the tough questions. I love questions because questions are the best answers themselves. Yes, English Teacher salary in Korea is 2.0 million won plus. I measure myself against the American standard because it is what I know and what I grew up with. Yes our economy is bad now but I have confidence that we will get out of it eventually and I hope our country will change for the better after it.
You are right. In essence I am living the life I chose and choose everyday, to travel, learn, teach, and experience. The first three on this list I can do easily because the tools I need to achieve them are already with me—–my mind. I can travel because I have always been traveling my whole life both mentally and physically. I can learn because I have always been trying to mimic my grandfather who spoke 5 languages plus and a true genius, so I continue to learn and I try to share with others what I learn. But the last one is the one I cannot easily attain because it takes more time and requires the investment of my entire life. My grandfather always said "experience is everything, never let anyone take any experience from you." I have always remembered this and many things he taught me. This is the reason for this journey, to experience, to experience the process of becoming a millionaire financially. The process is everything. The process of attaining anything is perhaps the most important part and sometimes better than the results.
Once attained, I will give it back to the world and find another goal to experience. I know that sounds crazy but consider this, "we are one, what I give to you I give to myself." The life-cycle is: Birth, Experience, Death, that's essentially life, so once that particular experience is attained, I will have more opportunities for other experiences and I will use that "status" to help as many people as I can because that is the ultimate experience; to give all and require nothing.
Insightful! Sounds like your grandfather was a very wise man! I will have to keep this in mind as every day brings a new rewarding experience, though it may not always be enjoyable! I aspire to reach that state of giving and expecting nothing in return. It's a work in progress!
maisha, one of your thoughts is something I feel much importance towards. You're thoughts regarding focusing too much on the END product. It's important to find joy in all our accomplishments, whether small or large. Working is an inherent, beautiful part of our lives – and we all have the ability to accomplish anything we truly set our minds AND heart on.
Indeed he was, I miss him very much. I love to see people change for the better, my life too is always a work in progress. B)
