This is an excerpt from an essay I am writing titled “The definition of love”. It is not complete yet but I thought it would be good to hear what people have to say about love before completing it. Love is a simple yet very complex subject that bugles the minds of many. Because we have placed conditions on love, it is hard to truly love. I believe the only difference between the kinds of loves you have for family, friends, and the world only differs in your expression of it.

Here is the excerpt:

Love is all there is and it has no requirements. If someone loves you because of, that is a conditioner love. In loving others, remove the “because of.” When you love, you just do. However, you cannot love others without first loving yourself. This is why I question the idea that, “it is better to give than to receive.” How can you give something that you don’t have? How can you give love if you don’t have love within you?

Once complete, the full essay will be posted here. In the mean time, what is your definition of love?
