Before leaving for China there were a few things I had to do. I sent my passport for a visa. It only took 4 days to get a visa to China, but the cost sucks if you are a U.S citizen. I paid more than the guys from Ireland and Canada simply because I have a U.S passport. That really had my blood boiling.
After getting my passport and sorting out the arrangements with my travel mates. I went to exchange my money. Chinese currency sucks, its worth shit. 100 Chinese yuan is Korean 17 thousand won and in dollars it’s even less. I thought I was over paying for items at first until I recalculated what the money was worth. After doing this, we were set to go. We wanted to go by boat just to be different. It was a long boat ride but it was a lot less. It was Korean 182 thousand won, which is about $150. We were on our way to China for Christmas and some of New Year. It was quite an expirience.
I could not blog about this experience from China because a lot of websites are blocked in China. I could not access my blog, facebook, twitter and a number of other sites I frequent because the Chinese government has them blocked and I don’t think that’s changing soon. But I will relate the experience here in the following days.

OMG, that's awful about the VISA fee. I didn't realize you needed a VISA just to visit. Hearing about Facebook and some other sites that are blocked makes me NOT want to go there at all. There are some teaching positions paying EXTREMELY well in China (2 year contract) but I cannot imagine no FB for 2 years!
