Love-motels are very common in Korea. A lot of boys and girls live with their parents for a long time after the age of eighteen. Some live with their parents well into late adulthood. And we all know that restrictions are a part of the deal when you opt to live with your parents. As a result, there are things you can do and not do in your parents house. The solution: love-motels.

Although living with parents has a lot of benefits like, saving money, free food, free laundry-if you are luck, comfort and security and best of all, no rent. And even if you are asked to pay rent as some parents might demand, it is not going to be a huge hole in your wallet. The downside to this arrangement is, you have no privacy.

Love-motels as the name implies is where you go with your partner to express your physical love. You can book them for a few hours or stay overnight. The rates vary depending on how long you need the room. For a night stay, you are looking at 40 thousand won which is about $37. They generally include a large screen television with adult channels, a computer, bathtube, condoms, two toothbrushes and a big bed. But love-motels are not reserved only for adult activities.

Anyone can stay at a love motel. In fact, you cannot even tell the difference sometimes between a love-motel and other motels. The motels are well insulated so you cannot hear sounds outside of your own room; well, sometimes. But if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, they are a great alternative.

If you are in the Seoul-Gangnam area, there is one on subway line 2 (gangname station). Get out of exit 1, turn right immediately getting off the exit and there is a road/ally, walk 40-60 meters and you should see one called Hotel Vinus on your left. There are others on this same road as well. the rates are the same.
