Hanging Out: Free-Time Activities

In this listening activity, students will hear 4 speakers describing where and with whom they usually hang out.

After matching the activities to the speakers, students will review some collocations with the verbs GO and HAVE. As a follow-up, ask students to share in pairs where and with whom they usually hang out.

Language present: “hang out with”, “spend time with”, “go shopping/swimming”, “watch TV”, “go out to dinner/to a café”, “go home”, “have dinner out/coffee/a swim/lunch/free time”, “stay home”.
