Class Management Tips 101: Here is a fun and interesting way to keep your class in order.
Since one thing you have to keep in mind as a Teacher is your student’s strengths and weaknesses, you learn a lot of information about their behavior, likes and dislikes. But there comes a time when you have to use that information for or against them in order to keep the sanity in the classroom. This quick way of controlling the class does just that.
This is the five-minute class management tips for ages 9-14
All students love games as a way to learn. But you don’t want to reward them by playing a game if they don’t give something back to you as their Teacher. And at the end of the day, the most important thing you want from them is their attention so that you can learn them something. So try this since kids go bananas for games,
- At the beginning of your class, write 5 marks on the board and title them “GAME”
- Each mark represents 5 minutes of game time
- If a student misbehaves, take off one mark, i.e sleeping, not listening and talking etc.
- And however minutes they have left at the end of the class, you can play a game (educational of course :)) and if they are just perfect angels then you can designate a game day.
What you get with this is that you find the students doing most of the disciplining for you. And it rewards them for being good and adds a bit of fun in the classroom. Give it a go.
